N.Z. Song Chosen

A 30-year-old New Zealand song-writer, Dave Jordan, who won the “Studio One” competition last year with “Don’t Let Me Lose You,” has another number which promises •<> become a bestseller in Japan. The song is “Getting A Drag,” and it was chosen by the organisers of the second Tokyo Music Festival as an entry in the contest, which is run by the Tokyo Popular Music Promotion Association.

About 250,000 copies of the song have been .sold in Britain, and it has reached thirteenth place in the British “Top Twenty,” as well as appearing in the German charts. Jordan has been in London for two years and a half and has a full-time position with Associated Television as a song-writer—a highly coveted job.

He has twice won the silver scroll award in New Zealand.
