Irish Whip favourite
(N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY. The New Zealand stayer. Irish Whip, will be left in Sydney to be prepared for the $40,000 Brisbane Cup, 3200 m, at Eagle Farm on June 11. His trainer. M. Ritchie, was due to leave for New Zealand vesterdav but will return later in the month to supervise Irish Whip’s final preparation for the big race. Ritchie has arranged for the horse to be left in the care of the Randwick trainer, J. Page. Irish Whip is favourite for the cup in the first charts issued in Melbourne. Bookmakers are treating the Sydney Cup winner. Apollo Eleven, as an unlikely runner, but as a safety measure have put him on the second line of favouritism. Mr J. Foote, the owner of Apollo Eleven, may start Cyretta In the Brisbane Cup after her good win in New Zealand last week.
Cyretta is a five-year-old chestnut mare by Cyrus, the side of Apollo Eleven, from Royetta. and bookmakers have her on the third line of favouritism. Lord Nelson and Triton share favouritism in the Stradbroke Handicap. 1400 m. at Eagle Farm on June 9. Next favoured are All Shot and Century.
