Jugoslavs appear on charges

SYDNEY, April 2.
Documents seized at the week-end in the home of a Croatian leader urged Croatians to kill Jugoslav diplomats and destroy Jugoslav embassies and consulates, a police prosecutor alleged in the Central Court today.
The prosecutor said that the police said the documents, in the Serbo-Croat language, were connected with the movement known as the Ustasha—an extremist organisation opposed to the Jugoslav Government. Before the court was Vjekoslav Anic, aged 31, a butcher, of the Sydney inner suburb of Redfern, charged with having possession of explosive substances and detonators. He was one of 13 men and one woman appearing in court today after a series of raids on the homes of Jugoslavs by police over the weekend in Sydney and Wollongong, fifty miles south. The police prosecutor said that Anic was alleged to be the secretary of an extremist organisation which in the past had displayed extreme opposition to the Jugoslav Government. The police prosecutor, Sergeant W. King, said that the
police alleged Anic had extremely violent views towards the Jugoslav Government and [ associated with other persons [ of extreme views. Another man who appeared in court, Jokov Suljak, aged| 31, a labourer, of Redfern,' was alleged to be the Australian president of an organisation called the United Croatians of West Germany. A counsel appearing on be-! half of the Jugoslavs said: that the allegations unsup- j ported by evidence would! prejudice future proceedings. The counsel, Mr B. J. Neal,| said that Suljak had been subjected to raid after raid by the police. All the male Jugoslavs who I have appeared in court so far! have been released on bail on | charges relating to having: : possession of explosives, detonators, or firearms.
