Appeal for family

The sum of $l2O, as well as food, clothing, toys, and household utensils have so far been given in the appeal for Mr and Mrs D. Clark and their two children, whose house at Islington was gutted by fire last week-end. Offers of furniture have also been made. Mrs Clarke said that the response had been “marvellous.” Mr Clark said: “I would like to thank all those people — family, workmates, neighbours, and others —who have helped us.” His workmates were also collecting money for his family, Mr Clark said. The family is at present living in a caravan, but Mr Clarke hopes to build another house on the same section. The appeal was launched at the Islington Dairy. The manager, Mrs A. W. Berry, said that it would probably continue until Saturday evening.
