Women’s A basketball Women’s A grade indoor basketball will be played on Saturdays in Cowles Stadium this winter for the first time and has been reduced from nine to six teams. This has provided problems for the Canterbury Basketball Association because nine teams, eight of which played in the A grade last season, have applied for inclusion. The 1972 champion, Checkers, Mairehau, Rangiora and Rex have been accepted, and the other five are to i compete in a round-robin tournament. in Cowles Stadium on Sunday. The top [two will qualify for the final 'places. The five teams contesting the tournament are Orients, United. Rebels, University and Y.M.C.A.
