The Duchess of Windsor has made her first social outing since she fell and broke her hip in January, reports the “Daily Mail,” The Duchess, with an old friend, had lunch recently at Maxim’s in Paris, where she and the Duke of Windsor had been regulars for 30 years. The luncheon also marked (the beginning of her emergence from mourning over the Duke’s death, the “Daily Mail” said. Her secretary said: “I think you will be seeing a (good deal more of the Duchess from now on. There are many days when she feels bright and able to face the world.” The “Daily Mail” said that the Duchess is still living in the mansion she and the Duke made their home after the abdication in 1936. but said that she was considering moving somewhere smaller, perhaps a hotel suite. She still wears only black, mauve or white clothes. Her secretary says that these are ■ the colours of mourning.
