New 124 coupe

New versions of the Fiat 124 coupe—now powered by an 1800 c.c. engine—are expected to arrive in New Zealand soon. The basic shape of the Fiat 124 coupe has been retained, although the grille has been changed and, from photographs, looks more fussy than the previous clean design. The interior has no significant changes, but there are now larger extractor vents for the through-flow ventilation. The steeringwheel rim is now leatherbound. The coupe previously came with either a 1400 c.c. or a 1600 c.c. engine. The 1973 models have either the same 1600 c.c. unit or a new 1800 c.c.

engine, which produces 114 b.h.p. (108 b.h.p. in tne 1600) and gives a top speed of about 115 rn.p.h. (1600. about 112 rn.p.h.). The main options are a five-speed gearbox in place of the standard four-speed unit, metallic paint, and alloy wheels —an 1800 in this form will be $5616.
