A photograph in “The Press” yesterday taken off a film developed by police from a camera which had been unclaimed for nearly three months, was successful in finding the owner. The camera was found near the railway bridge in Archibald Street. Tinwald, Ashburton. on January 7. Christchurch police headquarters gave permission for a photograph of a family group from the film to be published. It appeared yesterday under the heading “Clue to ownership.” After seeing the photoi graph and reading the article an Ashburton man claimed the camera from the police. The group was of friends from Te Atatu, near Auckland, who were visiting Ashburton at the time the camera was lost. A gold watch, and a child’s sulky, have also been claimed from the Ashburton police I this week after published reI ports of their loss and subsequent handing-in to the police.
