New health director
(N.z. Press Association* ! WELLINGTON. Dr H. J. H. Hiddlestone,' has been named Director-. Genera! of Health to succeed! Dr D P. Kennedy, who died recently. The appointment] was announced by the State Services Commission. Dr Hiddlestone, aged 48. is now director of the Health Department’s Division of Hospitals. Before joining the department in 1970 he was medical superintendent-in-chief of the Southland Hospital Board. Before that he was specialist physician and the.; medical superintendent to the Nelson Hospital Board, from 1954 to 1966 Dr Hiddlestone was educa. ted at Auckland Grammai School and Otago University. where he graduated in 1949 His a fellow of the Koval College of Physicians (■Edinburgh), and a fellow of the Royal Australasian Col-j lege oT Physicians ~
