Fire risk up
Despite high humidity in 'the Canterbury fire conjservancy the fire risk is moderate to high, a Forest Service spokesman said I yesterday. Most areas of Canterbury have received a few points of rain, but the vegetation is extremely dry, the spokesman said. Temperatures have dropped throughout the province and the wind is tending to be from the south and east. If the wind changed to the north-west, however, the fire risk would increase, said the spokesman.
