A suite of rooms in a spacious palace overlooking the River Nile has been prepared for Princess Anne, due to arrive today from Addis Ababa for a three-day visit. The palace, near the confluence of the Blue and White Niles, was the residence of British governor-genrals for more than half a century when Britain ruled Sudan jointly with Egypt. Now called the People’s Palace, it is used mostly for administrative purposes' and it has a large conference hail. But one wing of the palace, which stands in spacious grounds and gardens filled with exotic tropical trees, [ shrubs and flowers, is re-j served as a guest house fori visiting heads of state and) eminent visitors.
