Accident on power pole

WELLINGTON, Feb. 21. A man was crushed to death and two of his workmates seriously injured when a support pole they were working on crashed to the ground near Plimmerton today. The dead man was John Archibald Todd, married. of Paekakariki Beach. He was killed instantly. The injured men were in a comfortable condition in Wellington Hospital late tonight with spinal injuries and The three men had just finished shifting a support pole for electric train wires with the help of a crane when the accident occurred. The crane had held the pole while the men packed it and when they had finished they climbed to the top to attach According to the. police they had reached the top, with Mr Todd slightly below the other two, when the pole began to topple. It hit the ground and trapped all three men beneath it.
