Circuit worth $100,000
A total of more than 100,000 is expected to be offered in prize money in an attempt to lure leading players to take part in the Australian tennis circuit next summer.
There has been a sharp rise in incentives for top competitors to enter the New South Wales championships. Only two seasons ago $4OOO was at stake; the 1972-73 contest will be worth more than $25,000. The promoters of the New South Wales and Australian Open titles. Tennis Camps of Australia, are expected to administer the West Australian and South Australian championships for the first time. Already A. Ashe (United States) and R. Laver (Australia) have shown interest in competing on the circuit and it is also hoped that the leading United States woman player. Miss C. Evert, will join them.
