Spray flies as the motor of Miss Kendall (L. Meharry, Auckland) blows up during the final of the Rothmans challenge race for 1650 c.c. hydroplanes at Pleasant Point yesterday. Miss Kendall had won the first heat easily, and was 300 yards in the lead in the sixth lap of the eight-lap race when the motor failed.
