M. H. Mohi (MaristWestern Suburbs) and E. S. Kerrigan (Papanui) have withdrawn from the Canterbury XIII which will meet the Australian Aboriginal Rugby league team at Leslie Park, Hornby, next Sunday. The most experienced member of the squad, Mohi has had to decline the captaincy. Ironically, it is because he has been transferred back to Christchurch in his employment and will be occupied in packing his family’s belongings in Blenheim next week-end. The selectors (Messrs H. J. Walker and A. O’Donnell) have added the former Canterbury secondrow forward and prop, A. P. Rushton (Christ-church-Eastern Suburbs), to their training squad, but have yet to decide whether to replace Kerrigan—who has a knee injury—with another back.
In Mohi’s absence, J. B. Craig (Papanui) has been given the responsibility of leading the side.
