Appeal total at $14,000
(N.Z. Prest Association > HAMILTON. Four hundred gifts, of a total value of $14,000, have been made in response to the national appeal for a memorial to the late Dr C. P. [McMeekan. The chairman of the appeal committee (Mr F. C. Johnstone) said that those who had made the gift included dairy companies, a freezing company, agricultural, manufacturing, distributing and servicing companies, banks, newspapers, a harbour board, industrial companies, farmers, scientists and city people. Dr McMeekan, drowned in a boating accident at Auckland last year, was the director of the Ruakura Agricultural Research Centre.
