Building work value higher

Building permits issued by the Christchurch City Council in December were for work valued at $2,699,016. compared with $1,399,180* worth of permits issued >n December, 1971. The main increase last month was in permits for buildings other than houses or flats, the total being $1,160,713, compared with $230,643 a year ago. House permits were valued at $378,358 last month, compared with $481,148 a year ago. Permits for flats also showed a drop in value. For the year since March 31, the value of permits was $24,315,383, compared with $18,412,044 for the same nine months in 1971-72.
