Wigram traffic plan
Sixteen traffic officers will be on duty to control traffic to and from the Lady Wigram Trophy race at Wigram tomorrow.
The Waimairi County chief traffic officer (Mr A, Laing) says that drivers are asked to use the suggested routes, and the correct lanes, and should give clear signals. The officers are on duty for the sole purpose of assisting all road users to arrive and
depart as safely and quickly as possible, and the co-opera-tion of everyone is sought, he says.
Traffic from the south should enter the main gate at Wigram, making a righthand turn from the Main South Road. Traffic from the west by way of Carmen Road should also enter by the main gate. To leave, south-bound and west-bound traffic should turn left from the main gate.
I Traffic from the north i should go to Wigram via the (Main South Road and Sock-
burn roundabout, using the left lane over the Sockbum overbridge and turning left into Symes Road. North-bound traffic should leave at the Vickerys Road gate via Vickerys Road, Haytons Road, and Symes Road, turning right on to the Main South Road. Traffic from the central Christchurch area may enter Wigram via Blenheim Road, using the left lane over the Sockburn overbridge and then making a left turn into Symes Road; or if drivers
wish to go to the backstraight car park they should enter via Lincoln Road-Annex Road to Wigram Road (formerly Middle-Lincoln Road). City-bound traffic should leave from the Vickerys Road gate via Washboume Road, Haytons Road, and Wigram Road, turning right into Annex Road and finally on to Lincoln Road. Traffic from the back straight into Christchurch City should leave via Wigram Road, into Annex Road, and on to Lincoln Road.
