Offender lit fire
Christchurch detectives are investigating a fire in which an offender tried to burn a new motor-cycle and a car in a garage at 109 Johns Road, Harewood, on Wednesday night, and then stole another new motorcycle to get away. The fire was lit in petrol which had been allowed to flow from one of the motorbikes placed on its side in the garage. Ir was noticed by an occupier of the property, and put out before any damage was caused to either the motor-cycle or a new Ford Falcon car in the garage. It is believed that the. fire! was lit with a match found, on the floor near the seat of, the fire. The motor-cycle stolen was] a 1972 Suzuki 50 valued at| $425.
