Support for helmets
(N.Z. Press Association > NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 10
The North Taranaki Motoricycle Club has supported legislation to make crash hel;mets compulsory at all j speeds. The New Zealand 'Motor-cycle Association has opposed such legislation. The president of the North Taranaki club (Mr D. P O’Connor) said the club had established its policy on the matter at a meeting two weeks ago. ■ “Motor-cyclists receive a great deal of bad publicity from road deaths, many of 'which occur inside the city limits. A high percentage of deaths result from riders not wearing safety helmets. We support any moves that might reduce deaths and improve motor - cycling’s public image.”
