TAYLOR OUT, CUNIS IN
The experienced Auckland opening bowler, R. S. Cunis, will play for New Zealand in the CocaCola knock-out tournament semi-final match, against South Australia, on Sunday. A New Zealand representative since 1964. Cunis was last night named as the replacement for the injured Wellington captain, B. R. Taylor. At the same time, the chairman of the New Zeal .d Cricket Council’s board] of control (Mr J. G. Leggat) said that A. B. Jor-L dan (Centra) Districts),] an original selection fori the touring party of 12, would be twelfth man; for the knock-out match/ Taylor, said Mr Leggat, “has I a deep-seated tissue in-'.
jury, and cannot play fot a fortnight at least.” Meanwhile, another New Zealand fast bowler who left the field yesterday, D. R. Hadlee, seems likely to be fit for the week’s visit to Australia.
The most successful bowler of the season for Canterbury — and leading the national averages as well — Hadlee left the field during Centra) Districts’ second innings. He has a slight hamstring injury, and was having ice treatment for it last evening. He had consulted a muscle specialist, and will be seeing him again this morning. “He is hopeful I will be fit to play when we leave on Friday,” said Hadlee. “The slight strain apparently happened in the best possible place — if it had been higher or; lower, I would have had; more trouble.” 1
