Sir, —The poultry-farmer is about to take it in the neck again. In an article in “The Press” yesterday — “Meat meal price soars”—it is reported that “the rise in the prices of feed rations could be about 10 to 15 per cent.” (This is about $6 to $9 a ton for local poultry food. With the price of meat meal controlled by overseas demands and the freezing works free to move the price up accordingly, the egg producer is in an economic straitjacket. I There has not been an egg I price rise for many months and yet the egg producer is [expected to absorb increasing feed costs.
