Bensel Cup taken by Auckland team

INVERCARGILL.

Auckland beat Wellington, 4-2, in the final yesterday to win the Bensel Cup at the national women’s softball tournament at Invercargill.

Miss M. Rush and Miss S. Kemp, aged 16, were outstanding for Auckland. Miss Kemp had three safe hits from four attempts and the fourth hit went far out to be caught by the left field. Miss Rush was in great form at the third base; her throwing, catching and anticipation dominated the area inside the diamond. Southland won the Mereweather Cup for the B section.
