(N.Z Press Association) DUNEDIN. In an extremely close and tense finish, Otago won the Bi-abin Cup cricket tournament at Logan Park ,Dunedin, yesterday. Otago was playing Auckland in the third series of matches and whichever team won would win the trophy. If there was a draw, however. Canterbury. which played Wellington, would have won. Otago was set 174 runs for a win. with 130 minutes to get them in. With four overs to go they were 20 runs short, and in the second to last over the ninth wicket fell with five run to go. With two balls to play Otago reached the desired target of 174. The Canterbury versus Wellington match ended at 5.30 p.m.. when the match was brought to a halt because it had become obvious that a decision could not be reached. Wellington had been set 202 runs to get in 103 minutes but this task proved impossible. Final points: Otago 37. Canterburv 31. Auckland 23, Wellington 22.
