Upsets at Timaru
(N.Z. Press Association) 1 TIMARU. [ Only one pair from outside South Canterbury was among the last six in the [ pairs event at the South Island men’s bowling championships in Timaru yesterday.
1. A. Dickison and his son,! P. J. Dickison (Otago) fell to A. Harrison and J. Gray (Pleasant Point) in the surprise of the tournament. A. Shaw and A. C. Gray (Makarewa, Southland), against E. O’Neill and A. Leathwick (Waimate) ran up a 17-4 lead after 14 ends.) Then O’Neill and Gray had a three on the fifteenth end, 1 three on the next, then took, one, four, and one, to be one) down.
O’Neill forced an extra end. which Shaw’s bowl won.
The West End veteran. W IF. Finn, and I. R. Batchelor beat the present South ( an jterbury champion of champions. R. Milne, and C. Patrick. then defeated W. Bambery and J- Bulger (Balmacewan).
