A Cobb and Co. stage coach was “held up” by local residents on horseback at Styx, on the old 130-mile Dunstan Trail, in Central Otago yesterday afternoon. The coach left Dunedin for Clyde on Boxing Day and at the time of the “holdup” was stopped for repairs to a wheel. The driver Mr D. Axe (left on the coach), and Mr K. Johnston, riding shotgun, were reported to have been able to handle their masked attackers.
