A weak ridge of high pressure covers most of New Zealand, but a trough of low pressure is approaching Northland from the west and another trough is moving east, across the south Tasman Sea toward Fiordland. FORECASTS: MARLBOROUGH. NELSON. BULLER, AND WESTLAND.—Light to moderate variable winds; fine and mild. CANTERBURY. — Moderate north - east winds; fine and mild. OUTLOOK.—CooI and showery in Canterbury but mainly fine elsewhere.
