OBITUARY C. Nordqvist

Mr C. A. Nordqvist, who raced and trained many good pacers, died in Ashburton on Saturday. He was 88. A native of Sweden, Mr Nordqvist left a ship at Lyttelton when he was 14 and went to the Methven district, where he eventually secured his own property. He took up trotting as a hobby and trained some of his own horses but others were trained by F. G. Holmes, who did most of Mr Nordqvist’s driving. Among the better performers he had were Hostess, Proprietor, Scottish Queen, Laplander. Reporter. Labourer. Compass and Bonny Clare.

He is survived by two sons and four daughters.
