Whispers II wins
'N'.Z Press Association) GISBORNE. J. Stagg’s 40ft Wellington sloop Whispers II has won the Wellington-Gisborne yacht race. Whispers II crossed the finish line at 5.15 p.m. yesterday in a time of 28hr 53 min. This was a fine performmance over the 266 mile
course. Whispers II sailed 200 miles in 12 hours last night Whispers H’s time was a record for the race, beating Savant’s 1970 time of 42hr 6m in 40sec by just over 13hr.
