Aust, to end defence aid

nam, said the Minister of Defence and Deputy Prime Minister (Mr L. Barnard) today, i The decision revokes a ; commitment by the previous | Government to supply ; sAust2sm in defence and icivil aid in the three years; i ending 1973-74. The commit-i (ment was made in August, 1971. ( During 1971-72. a total of ;sAust7m was spent on de- ; fence and civil aid to South (Vietnam, of which defence aid comprised about sAust2.s ( million. Most of the defence aid 1 has been in goods such as small boats, outboard en-| gines, tents and rations—alb made in Australia. Mr Barnard said that plans to train a group of about 50 Cambodian servicement in Australia had also been abandoned.
