Mr H. E. McLenaghin, at present deputy chief mechanical engineer of the Railways mechanical branch, has been appointed chief mechanical engineer, replacing Mr T. A. Blyth, who retired yesterday. —(P.A.) Mr S. D. Sinclair, of Nelson, has been re-elected chairman of the Apple and Pear Board for the sixth successive year. He has been a board member for 14 years. Mr K. W. Kiddle, of Hawke’s Bay, has been re-elected deputy chairman.—(P.A.)
Professor C. D. Ellyett, head of the department of physics at the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, since 1964, has been elected deputy-chairman of the senate of the university for two years. He was on the staff of the University of Canterbury for 28 years and was a reader in physics when he went to Newcastle. He will conduct senate meetings in the absence of the ViceChancellor.
