NEW ZEALAND SHAREMARKET REACHES RECORD LEVEL
The New Zealand share market showed rises in almost all sections in very" active trading again yesterday. Some stocks finished below their best prices for the day, but the tone remained strong, and prices closed at the highest level ever.
U.E.B. was among the most.; active stocks again as it con-!’ tinued to rise in price. By the! end of the day it was 4c!. higher at 110 c—its best price for the day. Atlas Majestic gained 4c at ; 89c after selling at 90c. N.Z.M.C. was marked up! 4c to 122 c with a large number of shares changing hands! up to that price. Brambles-Bumett was
; steady at 150 c in Christ-I [church but 5c higher in Wellington and 3c higher in ’Auckland. The shares have put on about 12c in the last ■ week on the rumour of a major merger being negotiated. Leyland Investments was prominent among the rises ’rising 15c to 135 c in expectation of portfolio gains by the ■ company.
