Window broken

A large plate-glass window in the bottle store of Warner’s Hotel was smashed by a group of youths who had earlier been asked to leave the hotel last evening. The manager of the hotel (Mr T. Bennett) said that a group of five persons went into a bar with two girls about 8.30. The barman thought the girls were under age and asked them to leave.

The group then went outside and broke the window, said Mr Bennett.

The police were called and they questioned a youth in connection with the incident, but no arrests were made. Workmen were later called to repair the damage. In the meantime hotel workers had watched over the unprotected liquor in the window.
