Kindergarten salaries rise

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 20. Salary increases for kindergarten teachers were announced todayi by the Minister of' Education (Mr Amos). The scales represented an agreed settlement between •the Education Service Committee and representatives of the Free Kindergarten Teachers’ Association, he said. “They provide increases of; from 16 to 12 per cent in the’ basic scales for kindergarten teachers, and from 4 to 6 per cent for senior staff,” Mr Amos said. Kindergarten teachers with; a sixth-form certificate quali-l fication will now be paid the same salary as those with i University Entrance. The maximum salary for a trained kindergarten teacher has been increased from $2632 • to $2894 for teachers with • basic qualifications, and from | $2761 to $3061 for teachers (with the lower sixth-form certificate or University Entrance.
