Not TV fan

f'N’.Z Press Assn —Copyright* NEW YORK. Dec. 14 Marlene Dietrich held a news conference yesterday to talk about her first appearance on television and made it clear she doesn’t think much of television. "I like to go to live theatre and concerts, I like to see live performances,” she said. "The small screen, that is really frustrating. But 1 think

television is wonderful for people who are lonesome or ill.” Her hour-long-special which will be shown on January 13, is based on her onewoman show, in which she sings and which she performs all over the world. It was filmed before an audience in London in November and shooting went on to 2.30 in the morning, she said, because some songs had to be done over. Miss Dietrich told a questioner that she was "not as old as the newspapers make me out to be.” The “World Almanac” says she’s 71, but in her chic black pants suit with mandarin collar edged in white she didn’t look it. Asked whether she ever watches her old movies on television Paris, where she now lives, she said, "Oh God no. I have better things to ; do than that.” And as to whether she is tired of being termed the ' world’s most glamorous grandmother, she sighed, "Oh dear, that old bit. I gave that (title long ago to Miss ’Elizabeth) Taylor.”
