Ewe lambs $14.50
The way that wool and lamb prices have been going, high prices can be expected for breeding i stock this season and there was a striking; example of this in Mid-1 Canterbury this week.
After the Tinwald sale! more than 2000 Border Leicester - Romney ewe ; lambs were offered on the property of the Westmere | Farming Company atj Dromore. It was the second year that the sale had been held on the farm. They were a notable line; of young sheep being big and very well bred and ‘ weaned about four weeks and it was obvious that buyers had in mind mating them as ewe lambs. They represented the ’ entire ewe lamb drop on the place, except for a few that were bom late. The sale attracted buyers from Rangiora, Darfield, South Canterbury and Southland, as well as a strong representation from local sources.
Prices ranged from $11.60 to $14.50. Two hundred were sold for $14.50, 369 for $14.40, 1137 for $14.10 and 412 for $11.60. The 1137 went to South Otago and 412 went to Southland, with the rest going to local sources.
