Top European drivers in national rally

HV Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The organisers of the Shell 74 international motor rally yesterday completed air travel negotiations to enable eight top European drivers to compete in the event. The rally, to be conducted as an associated activity of the Christchurch Commonwealth Games, will start in Auckland on Sunday, January 13, 1974, and finish in

Christchurch on Thursday, January 17.

With air travel arrangements completed, the prospects looked bright for the eight, as yet unselected, European stars, the rally organisers, Rallysport Promotions Ltd, said in a statement yesterday.

Only the cars they would drive had to be arranged and no problems were envisaged. Manufacturers within New Zealand would be keen to obtain the Europeans’ services, the statement added.
