Two persons were injured when a car hit the rear of another vehicle and then struck a concrete pole in Fitzgerald Avenue, near Heywood Terrace, about 7.25 p.m. yesterday. The pole snapped at the base on impact and crashed on to the roadway. One of the injured was admitted to Christchurch Hospital. He is Timothy Stevens, aged 27, of 89 Riselaw Street, Shirley, who suffered moderately serious chest and internal injuries. His condition last evening was reported as fairly satisfactory. Peter John Stevens, aged 15, of the same address, was treated for minor chest injuries and discharged.
