Situations Vacant © Hi IX, DIVISION OF TROPICAL PASTURES RESEARCH SCIENTIST FIELD: PLANT NUTRITION GENERAL: The headquarters of the Division is the Cunningham Laboratory, located at Brisbane, Queensland. The Division is conducting a comprehensive pasture research programme in summer rainfall environments in eastern Australia with the aim of increasing the efficiency of animal production by developing improved pastures to replace and supplement the low quality native pastures. There are widespread soil fertility problems in this zone and plant nutrition research is an important part of the overall programme. DUTIES: The appointee will take part in research aimed at defining the continuing fertiliser requirements of legume grass tropical pastures. His work will include new studies on requirements for maintenance applications of phosphorous, potassium and sulphur, and the continuation of work on the field responses of pasture legumes to molybdenum QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D degree specialising in an appropriate field or equivalent qualifications, and demonstrable research ability. Experience in a relevant field such as soil chemistry would be an advantage. SALARY: The appointment will be made within the salary ranges of Research Scientist or Senior Research Scientist: $7588 to $11,621 p.a. TENURE: This position is available for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of a further limited extension. FIBREGLASS SPECIALIST Our client requires the services of an experienced man to take charge and control production for an entirely new imaginative concept involving fibreglass manufacture. The successful applicant, who will be responsible directly to the General Manager, will be fully experienced in all techniques of fibreglass moulding and materials. In addition he would also be responsible for the day to day operation of the plant and the suoervision and training of staff.
