Assistance may be granted to a married man required to move his household. 7480 Th* Sign of Stole* AUCKLAND ELECTRIC POWER BOARD SYSTEM CONTROLLERS THE BOARD is to introduce a System Control Centre at its Head Office, Newmarket, Auckland, towards the end of 1973 to assume responsibility for all operational work associated with the 110, 33, 22, 11 and 6.6kV networks. This will also include the control of system peak which during 1972 reached 551 MW. Delivery of equipment will commence early 1973, and will comprise two computers, together with visual display units (C.R.T.’s), ancillaries and outstations for installation at 38 of the Board’s major substations. Control of circuit-breakers and tap-changing gear will be carried out from the Control Centre and information concerning circuit loading indications and alarms will be displayed and logged by the equipment. It is intended that control staff should be able to assimilate the data brought back to the Control Centre and use this to effect the most efficient operating procedures. They should have the ability to: Calculate plant and equipment ratings; Carry out short circuit calculations; Calculate protection settings; Carry out load-flow studies; Analyse equipment breakdown. One computer of the supervisory equipment will be on-line for Control purposes. The second unit will act as a standby but will be available for carrying out the above and other engineering calculations. Applications are invited from persons holding N.Z.C.E. Electrical (or equivalent) for the position(s) of System Controller(s). Preference will be given to applicants with supply authority experience, but it is intended that extensive training will be carried out before appointees take up their positions in the Control Centre. Salaries will be within the grades 7-10 (inclusive) of the Board’s Grading Scheme, plus an over-scale allowance of 21.5 per cent to compensate for shift work, giving a total basic salary of $6788 to $7629 (inclusive) at present. The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, but will not include the 21.5 per cent over-scale allowance until shift work is commenced towards the end of 1973.
