CAR HITS HEIFER

fN.Z. Press Association) WANGANUL Dec. 5. A man was killed about 4 a.m. yesterday when his sports car hit a heifer on the road just north of Ohfrigaiti. He was William Albert George Dixon, aged 21, single of Matatiro Street Titahi Bay. Mr Dixon’s car hit the heifer, turned on to its side, crossed the road, and hit a pole.

Dispute continues. — The coastal oil tanker Eme is still delayed in Auckland by a dispute with the Cooks’ and Stewards’ Union about time off. The ship has a cargo of fuel for Tauranga, and has been scheduled to sail at 1 pjn. each day since Friday, but according to the Union Steam Ship Company, which manages the vessel, there have been no developments in the dispute.—(PA.)
