Audience survey

(N.Z. Preus Association) 1 WELLINGTON. ' The N.Z.B.C. is conducting! la survey on the effect of its ' jlive coverage of the AIT' Blacks’ test against Wales on Saturday night. , The public relations man- < ager of the N.Z.B.C. (Mr R. ( E. Coury), said today the j national figures were ex- i pected to be published at the 2 end of this week.

N.Z.B.C. audience research staff will ask questions such as age group, sex, whether all the television programme was watched or all the radio broadcast listened to, and what viewers’ opinions were of the “fill-in” programmes between the end of normal transmission and the commencement of the match telecast. Mr Coury told the N.Z P.A. that the N.Z.B.C. was not considering extending its live television coverage to other All Black matches, apart from the test coverage already announced. Each live transmission cost about $15,000 in addition to the undisclosed figure for television rights.

It is understood that the corporation might consider providing live television covering of more matches on the tour if it could sell advertising time before and after the games, but the Broadcasting Authority will not allow advertising on Sundays. There have been suggestions that the authority might reconsider its ruling, and regard the times when matches from Britain would be broadcast as an extension of Saturday night rather than as Sunday. Comedy When one of a pair of collaborating television script-writers runs into a problem, naturally his colleague comes to his aid. After all, what man would hesitate to give a friend the benefit of his own education and experience to impress the friend’s very classy date? This is the basis of “The Rough with the Smooth,” a comedy screening on Monday. It was written by Tim Brooke-Taylor who stars in it with John Junkin.
