Enex wins big contract

WELLINGTON. Dee. 5. | The Fiji Electricity Authority has awarded Enex (the Engineering Export Association) of New Zealand a design and supervision contract for a 10,OOOkW diesel power station at Vunda, on the north-west coast of Viti Leva, the company announced tonight.

The project, which includes the building of 30 kilometres of transmission i line, will cost $4.7m. It will ; be financed by a loan from i the Asian Development Bank and from Fiji resources. The contract won by Enex , an organisation exporting New Zealand skills and services, will earn almost ; $400,000 in overseas currency and consultancy fees. The new power station will I supplement electricity gene- i

ration in the Nandi and Lautoka areas to meet the demand caused by the rapid growth of tourism and industry in that part of Fiji. Two 33,000-volt transmission lines will be built, from Vunda to Lautoka, and from Vunda to Nandi. The new power station is planned to open in - July, 1975.

Enex said it won the contract in face of international competition.
