Situations Vacant DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS SUPERVISORS FOR NATIONAL HOUSEHOLD SAMPLE SURVEY AUCKLAND, WELLINGTON, CHRISTCHURCH THE DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS requires a Field Supervisor based in Wellington and three District Field Officers based in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, who will be engaged on a Household Sample Survey to be commenced in early 1973. FIELD SUPERVISOR: Wellington. DUTIES: Over-all control of field operations throughout New Zealand. QUALIFICATIONS: A good knowledge of interview techniques and training methods; ability in report writing. Travel to other centres in New Zealand at regular intervals involved. The commencing salary will be in the range of $4725 to $5692 a year, and will be determined by qualification and previous experience. DISTRICT FIELD OFFICERS: (a) Auckland; (b) Wellington; (c) Christchurch. DUTIES: In addition to a certain amount of office work, the positions involve the interviewing of householders; the recruiting, selection and training of survey interviewers; the supervision of field work, and control of staff. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should be of good character, have reached a high standard of education with University Entrance and preferably a tertiary education, have an interest in the social sciences, be experienced in clerical procedures, in contacting and interviewing people and in control and organisation of staff. Some travelling is involved and a driver’s licence is desirable. Commencing salary will be $3859 with opportunity for advancement on merit to $4531 a year.
