New London ballet
Galina Samsova and Andre Prokovsky have formed a new ballet organisation to be called Samsova/Prokovsky's London Ballet Company. Ten dancers will form the nucleus of the company, with Samsova and Prokovsky as the founders and leading dancers. The company’s prime aim is to form a link in the international ballet scene by providing a company which, because of its size, repertoire and its well-known dancers, will be able to perform in any part of the world without the cost being too high.
DIRECTOR HONOURED Mr Peter Diamand, 59-year-old director of the Edinburgh Festival, has been appointed an honorary C.B.E. in recognition of his services to British cultural interests.
