i (N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, November 29. David Armitage, arts • editor of “Eve” magazine, has won this year’s Manawatu . prize for contemporary art, i worth $750. His entry was I “Girl with a Doll.” i Mr Armitage, aged 30, was • born in Tasmania, and I attended the Melbourne > Institute of Technology from I 1960 to 1965. He has ■ exhibited in Melbourne, ■ Hobart and in New Zealand. ; He won second prize in • the Manawatu contest in 1968. The seven other finalists ' this year were Claudia Eyley, ’ Auckland; Ralph Hotere, : Dunedin; John Lethbridge, i Auckland; Mary Mclntyre, i Hamilton; Michael Smither, ■ New Plymouth; and Ray Thornburn and Natalie Woodhams, both Palmerston ' North.
