Third claim for bird
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) HAIFA, No. 26. A third claimant has emerged for a parrot which has refused to sing a German nursery rhyme to a magistrate and thus establish which of two Haifa residents is its owner. Yossi, a grey, red-tailed parrot, remained silent when the court convened at the home of the present owner, Mr Haim Maos, last Wednesday to hear the rhyme that Mr Amus Meir claims to have taught it; Mr Meir has accused Mr Moas of theft. Reading an account of the court case, Mrs Andrea Gilhar, another Haifa resident, recalled today that her parrot, also named Yossi and also able to sing in German, was stolen four years ago. She said that she had kept some of Yossi’s feathers, and the un-co-operative bird will now have to be put on a feather identification parade as well as submit to a further vocal test.
