Two special presentations were made during James Last’s recent brief visit to New Zealand. Top local female vocalist, Suzanne presented Last with a gold record to mark the sale of 100,000 of his albums in New Zealand. He in turn presented Suzanne with a gold record for the sale of 50,000 copies of her single, “Sunshine through a prism.” James Last and his band and choir gave three successful performances in Auckland and on arriving were given a traditional Maori welcome and hangi. Suzanne got great receptions during her appearances on the Vai Doonican show and will be in Christchurch again soon for the final of the 1972 Golden Disc Award. James Last and Suzanne are pictured congratulating each other after the presentation of the gold discs.
