Call for control of rents
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 8. The Tenants’ Protection secretary (Mr P. : Halloran) today called on the I Government to follow the lead of the British Conservative Government by introducing rent control. “The Ministers of Housing and Internal Affairs have recently said that rent control in New Zealand has been investigated, but they had found no satisfactory scheme for its implementation,” he said. “We find it incongruous that New Zealand can find no immediate solution to rent control, while Britain can. “We call on the Government to prove that people do matter most, by introducing control,” he said.
