Explosion’s cause
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 7. Pressure in a mixing vessel caused the explosion at the chemical factory of Ivon Watkins-Dow in New Plymouth on Friday evening, said a company spokesman. The managing director, Mr R. F. Bollen, said that the vessel was being used to mix chemicals for a herbicide. It was not designed to withstand pressure.
